Doughnut Plant, opened by Mark Isreal in 1994, takes the recipe inspiration from the owner's grandfather's recipe from 1910 when his family started making bakery items. They use high-quality all-natural ingredients, no preservatives, fresh and seasonal fruit glazes, and original flavor combinations for their doughnut. The New York Times has called their doughnuts the "Doughnuts of the Gods". The New York has called them "Taste anything from Doughnut Plant once, and you're hooked". The doughnuts are simply great.
They offer a selection of daily flavors that are available year-round, as well as monthly seasonal flavors. Most of the Sourdoughnuts™ are vegan They are made in the same bakery, but fried in separate oil
- They handcraft three types of doughnuts daily: yeast, cake, and filled. Yeast doughnuts are light, airy, fluffy yeast-raised doughnuts, with a slight chew. Cake doughnuts are leavened with baking powder and have a texture somewhere near the intersection of a classic birthday cake and a buttery pound cake. The filled doughnuts are loaded with house-made jams, creams, and custards.
