Anakeesta

History

Anakeesta opened in Gatlinburg as a modern mountaintop attraction designed around the area’s long-standing appeal as a gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains. Its name comes from a Cherokee word commonly translated as “high ground,” which fits its emphasis on elevated views and forested terrain. The site was developed to give visitors a new way to experience the mountains from above while staying close to the Parkway.
