Haleakalā National Park

The park extends from the high summit down to the coastal streams and pools of the Kipahulu District.

History

Haleakalā National Park was established in 1961 to protect the unique environment of the volcanic landscape and its native species. The area has a rich cultural history, with significant ties to Hawaiian mythology and traditions.
