Black's Beach is a secluded coastal strip situated beneath the dramatic ocean bluffs of Torrey Pines in La Jolla. Famed for its powerful surf breaks, it is also well known as one of the country's most famous clothing-optional beaches. Visitors can access the sandy shoreline via steep hiking paths leading down from the bluffs.
History
Black's Beach was named after the Black family who owned a horse farm overlooking the beach in the 1940s. Over the years, it gained fame not only for its excellent surf conditions but also as one of the first and largest clothing-optional beaches in the United States.
