History
Travel Town was founded in 1952 by Charley Atkins, a recreation supervisor for the City of Los Angeles. It began as a project to give Los Angeles children an opportunity to learn about railroads in a fun, interactive setting. Over the years, it has collected and preserved numerous historic railway vehicles and artifacts.
