Diablo Lake Vista Point
A highly rated scenic stop with sweeping views of Diablo Lake and the surrounding peaks. It’s an ideal quick outdoor attraction for photography and sightseeing.
Diablo Lake Vista Point is a roadside overlook on State Route 20 in North Cascades National Park, known for its sweeping views of Diablo Lake’s bright turquoise water and the steep, forested peaks around it. It’s one of the easiest places to take in the dramatic scenery of the North Cascades without a long hike, making it a popular stop for photos, short breaks, and simply soaking in the mountain landscape. On clear days, the contrast between the lake’s color and the rugged granite ridges is especially striking.
History
Diablo Lake Vista Point exists because State Route 20 was built to cross the North Cascades and provide access to the area’s reservoirs and mountain scenery. The overlook gives travelers a safe pull-off to view Diablo Lake, which was created by the Diablo Dam on the Skagit River as part of the region’s hydroelectric development.
