History
As a National Historic Landmark, The Gamble House was built as a winter retreat for the Gamble family. The creative genius of architects Greene and Greene reached its zenith here, capturing the spirit of early 20th-century California living. The house remained in the Gamble family until 1966 when it was deeded to the city of Pasadena in a joint agreement with the University of Southern California.
