Tovrea Castle

Perched atop Carraro Heights in Phoenix, Tovrea Castle is an iconic 1920s architectural landmark famous for its wedding-cake design and surrounding desert gardens. Built by Alessio Carraro and later owned by the Tovrea family, the historic property offers guided tram tours through its manicured grounds, first floor, and basement. Visitors can explore rich local history, native desert flora, and panoramic views of the surrounding valley.

History

Tovrea Castle was constructed between 1928 and 1930 and was originally designed as a luxury home for Alessio Carraro. After changing hands several times, it was eventually acquired by the city of Phoenix in 1993 and has since been preserved as a historical site.
