The museum is preparing its collection of historic U.S. Marine Corps aircraft and artifacts for a new facility at the Great Park in Irvine. Physical exhibits are not currently open to visitors while relocation efforts are underway.
History
Established in 1989, the museum proudly preserves the legacy of Marine Corps aviation. Its name, 'Flying Leathernecks,' derives from the nickname given to Marine aviators in World War II, highlighting their leather flight jackets and indomitable spirit.
