San Francisco Botanical Garden is a unique urban oasis of extraordinary beauty showcasing 8,000 different kinds of plants from around the world. It is 55 acres of green space with beautiful trails with plenty of signs and information.
The seasonal highlights displayed in the Botanical Garden Map at the entrance are the must-visit area of the season.
- There are two entrances, the Main Gate near Ninth Avenue, just inside the Park, and the Friend (North) Gate on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, just steps from the Japanese Tea Garden, de Young Museum, and California Academy of Sciences.

- Enjoy a Free 90-minute walking tour with a Garden Docent on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 1:30 pm and Saturday at 10:30 am & 1:30 pm.

- Free entry everyday 7:30–9 am (enter via the Main Gate), the Second Tuesday of every month, and Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
- Admission is FREE for Members, School Groups, Veterans, and San Francisco City & County Residents (with proof of residency).
- All visitors receiving food assistance (SNAP benefits) are offered free general admission. Free admission for up to four people may be redeemed by presenting a valid EBT card upon entry.
- Buy a Family ticket for two adults and all children under 17 for a discounted price.
