Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens is the former Washington, D.C. residence of socialite and collector Marjorie Merriweather Post. The grand mansion features a world-class collection of Russian Imperial decorative art, French furnishings, and rare treasures. Outside, guests can stroll through 13 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and enjoy the on-site cafe.

History

The estate was established by Marjorie Merriweather Post, a prominent socialite and philanthropist, in the 1920s. It served as her private residence until her death in 1973, after which it was opened to the public as a museum.
