San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park

San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park preserves a site connected to the 1846 Mexican-American War conflict between U.S. troops and Californio forces. History

The Battle of San Pasqual was one of the bloodiest battles fought in California during the Mexican-American War. Here, General Stephen Kearny's U.S. forces clashed with Californio lancers led by General Andrés Pico. Despite being better equipped, Kearny's men faced a challenging fight due to the Californios' superior horsemanship and knowledge of the terrain.
