History
Cabrillo National Monument was established on October 14, 1913, to commemorate the landing of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo at San Diego Bay on September 28, 1542. This historic event marked the first time a European expedition had set foot on the American Pacific Coast, a moment of great significance in U.S. history.
