Leadville Historic District

There is no Leadville Historic District within Great Sand Dunes National Park. The actual Leadville Historic District is located over 120 miles north in the mountain town of Leadville, Colorado. Therefore, this historic district does not exist as an attraction inside the national park.

History

Leadville was established in the mid-1800s during the Colorado Silver Boom, becoming one of the highest incorporated cities in the United States. The district features numerous historic buildings, many of which date back to the silver mining rush, and reflects the economic prosperity and challenges of that time.
