$· InexpensiveHistoric 1850s landmark offering panoramic views over San Diego Bay
Perched atop the cliffs of Cabrillo National Monument, the Old Point Loma Lighthouse is one of the West Coast's earliest lighthouses. Visitors can explore restored 19th-century living quarters, historical museum exhibits, and interactive displays featuring historic Fresnel lenses. The surrounding grounds offer magnificent panoramic views of the San Diego harbor, city skyline, and Pacific Ocean.
History
Built in 1855, the Old Point Loma Lighthouse was one of the first eight lighthouses on the West Coast. It served mariners until 1891, when a new lighthouse was constructed at a lower elevation due to frequent fog obscuring its light. Today, it is a museum within Cabrillo National Monument.
