History
Founded in 1935, The Old Globe was originally constructed for the California Pacific International Exposition, modeling Shakespeare's famous Globe Theatre. It has since evolved into a world-class institution, surviving a devastating fire in 1978 and rebuilding to continue its legacy of exceptional theatrical storytelling.
