History

Founded in 1983 as the Women's History Reclamation Project, the Women's Museum of California has grown from a small grassroots organization to one of only three standalone museums of women's history in the country. Its mission is to educate and inspire present and future generations about the experiences and contributions of women by preserving the past, informing the present, and shaping the future.
